Oh my how time can just fly by without a documented Font Crush! Make no mistake folks, Font Crushes are happening around here every day, it’s just getting around to documenting the Font Love that’s difficult.
That brings up an interesting question: Is Font Love legal? How old do fonts need to be before I can look at them? Ew, this is going down a wierd path…
Anyway this past month I’ve been spending a great deal of time with:
Toybox
It’s a snappy little family of fonts, complete with a 3d, reversed and bold versions. How nice!
I’ll talk more about the Milktooth brand when the site actually launches.

When I saw www.pirated-sites.com show up in my stats, I got a little knot in my gut. Who’s ass am I going to have to kick now…? Geez! I’m givin out one ass kickin after the other these days!?!? I think I’m going to have to take a pass on this guy since he’s in the UK.
I never thought about how I’d feel about a rip off. It’s actually been a cleansing exercise in the art of forgiveness.
Mr. James Hopkins (most likely a crappy designer who rips off others designs) I forgive you.

Exciting news! One of my favorite sites, Smashing Magazine, picked up on the hourly rate calculator and published it in the month’s “Web-Sites of the Month” list.
Encouraging news since the last “suggestion” I received from the suggestion form was to “erase it.”
I would love to email people who have un-insightful comments to make on the calculator, but they rarely leave their real email addresses. It’s usually something like you@arestupid.com.
Is someone pissing on these people’s heads or something? I’m always amazed at how comfortable people become with insulting others when hiding behind their computers.
I’ve had lots of great feedback on the tool though, and for that I’m grateful. My hope is to release another version with additional features and explanations as to how & what calculations are taking place.
I’m so glad no one is pissing on my head today - it’s a beautiful day!!

Wow… is February almost over already…? I’ve barely come down from my Valentine’s Day sugar high! This month I’ve been working on a site for a radio show and have been swooned by a delicious little free font called Creampuff by Nick Curtis. Was it because I’ve been jacked up on sugar all month? Maybe. I cannot deny this month’s sweet tooth…
Creampuff just screams retro energy flow, doesn’t it? How could you ever just let this font live without some gradient or texture or depth? You just can’t! The heavens would rumble! Enjoy - you can download Creampuff here.

As an Art Institute alum, I occasionally have the great opportunity to share my experiences with students in the Interactive Media department. Click here to listen to the (lecture?) or actually design discussion I had with the class. Looking at the list of lecturers in this series I am completely humbled to have been invited to participate. Keep an eye out on Aarron Walter’s blog to hear these upcoming guest lecturers:
